We All Make History – Harriet the Lacemaker

This is the story of my incredibly resilient, great-great-grandmother from Bedfordshire, England who was part of a centuries-old tradition of making lace by hand.

Harriet’s husband, Joseph Sr. with grandaughter
A few of Harriet’s children: (left to right) Joseph, Henry, Rhoda, and Jane

I’m pretty sure everything you’d ever want to know about lacemaking history is here:

The Romance of the Lace Pillow, by Thomas Wright (it’s free!)

The intro music is Stay Quiet by Monplaisir and the outro is Pine Apple Rag by Scott Joplin.

Thanks for listening!
