I fell out of the habit of writing my shopping confessionals back in the fall. It was around this time I became consumed with job interviews, craft shows, and holiday related activities. Now that life has returned to a new normal, I’m ready to start sharing again.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been stopping by the thrift stores, picking up some new things for spring.
Here are a few items I’ve bought for the upcoming season:
They’re so, so comfortable. They’ll be great for schlepping around this summer.
Banana Republic Tank
I’d meant to buy this last year, but my size sold out before it went on clearance (the only time I buy things at BR). I was so happy to find it this year, with the store tags still attached, at Goodwill. Score!
Esprit Straw Cloche
I love a good chapeau, but I always found it hard to find nice summer hats.
Speaking of cloches, have you seen Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries yet? It’s an Australian show that’s just airing this year. It’s set in the 1920s, and its worth watching for the beautiful period costumes alone.
Joe Fresh Dress
I’ve been leary of Joe Fresh dresses since last summer. In August, I experienced a public wardrobe malfunction in my polka dot sundress, while having dinner with friends.
On the way to the restaurant, the back zipper came unzipped, never to zip up again, exposing my tragically unsexy underthings to our fellow diners. It was like dining in a pretty hospital gown – not very dignified at all.
For that reason, I hesitated before buying this shift.
I’ll just have to remember to stock my purse with safety pins when I wear it. Just in case.
