The Dollar Shave Club
I’ve been using a Gillette Mach 3 to remove hair from all of the places North American custom dictates a lady should for almost 15 years now. When it comes to product/brand loyalty it’s one of the things I haven’t budged on. That is, until recently, when Jeremy recommended the Dollar Shave Club. It’s a subscription. First, they mail you a handle, and then a package of refill cartridges each month for about a third of the retail cost. I was skeptical about the quality of the blades, but I’ve been using them for a few weeks now, and I give them my highest recommendation. Plus, their customer service has been excellent.
Bare Essentials Eyeshadow Primer
Last summer I tweeted a request for recommendations for a good eyeshadow primer. I was concerned about my make-up for our friend’s Vegas wedding, where the forecast was predicting temperatures over 40 degrees. My eyeshadow melts off my face at the best of times, so I was worried about how it would hold up in the dessert. I didn’t end up getting any primer, as make-up became the least of my problems leading up to our trip.
Instead, I found myself busy harassing the customer service department at J. Crew, trying to get them to send me the dress I’d ordered in time, after they’d mistakenly sent the wrong one. Then, of course, there was Jeremy’s health drama that had me, first and foremost, concerned about his well being, but also worried that we’d miss the wedding entirely.
I still wanted to try it, so my friend gave this to me for my birthday a few weeks ago, and don’t know how I’ve lived without it for so long. Although, the true test of it’s effectiveness will be July and August when the humidity kicks in around here.
Bacon Portions Packaging
I don’t know how long this has actually been around, but it’s only come to my attention recently. What took the meat industry so long to do this? It was so obvious. Thanks to the new packaging, I no longer have to commit to opening an entire package when I only need a few strips to make bacon bits for a salad or other small bacon related applications. Bravo, bacon industry!
