Getting Inspired for Fall

On Thursday night, I attended the Flare World Runway Tour. I was drawn to this event for a couple reasons.

First of all, the show was outfitted by Mapleview Mall. Mapleview is just down the street from our house, and as a compulsive shopper and mallrat, it’s like a second home to me.

Also, it was held at the Burlington Performing Arts Center. It’s a new facility, right in our neighbourhood. It opened last spring, but this was the first time I’ve had the opportunity to check it out.

After a lovely cocktail reception, Liz Cabral from Flare magazine walked us though the fall trends.

Please excuse my less than stellar iPhone photos. Those ladies move so fast down that runway, it’s hard to avoid the blurring.

Kate Middleton inspired jewel tones.

This was my favourite outfit from the show.

Cozy knits.

I love this.

I don’t think I’ll be adopting this gothic look.

Suiting, on the other hand, is more my thing.

I’ve never really been a fan peplum, but I’m coming around.

Especially after seeing this.

It was sponsored my TRESemmé, and I brought home a goodie bag loaded with products.

It was a great night out, and I went home inspired.

What trends are you looking forward to this fall?

  1. That goodie bag looks awesome! I just pulled out all my fall/winter clothes and I’m really excited to have an entirely new wardrobe 🙂 I just love sweaters, cords, and warm, snuggly outfits. I’m a dork.

  2. Yes to that goodie bag!
How awesome is that! I still haven’t been to a goodie bag event and I’m kinda jealous!

I like the peplum top like you showed… it’s really just a belted top but the skirts with the peplum built in… I just don’t know about that. It’s almost trying too hard?

I want more texture this Fall. I need to mix it up and try to go beyond the basics and try to find some real statement pieces.

  3. I was thinking about statement pieces lately too. I have all the basics in all the neutrals. What I need now is some more interesting items.
