It’s the middle of September and I’ll have to face the inevitable. Summer is almost over.
This is a reality I accepted earlier this month when I was stocking up on socks and tights at the Zeller’s liquidation sale. I’m as excited as the next person to have a Target store here in Canada, but I’m also really sad to see Zeller’s close. The clearance sale is easing the pain though. It’s incredible – I think I’ve bought enough hosiery and underwear to take me into the next decade.
When I wasn’t cleaning out the intimates section of my beloved, ill fated department store, I was doing my usually sweep of my local thrift stores. Here’s what I came home with:
I debated buying this Ben Sherman dress. I love it, but I think it would have been much more suited for me 10-15 years ago. I don’t think there’s a particular age where one has to stop wearing mini dresses, but there comes a time when you just look like you’re trying to hard to look young. I teeter on that line a lot.
I was on a roll, and bought another little Gap dress that’s probably too juvenile for my demographic and few years out of style.
It’s going to look even more ridiculous when I wear it with coloured tights.
This Banana Republic skirt is made from some weird, thick polyester that reminds me of the “slacks” my Nana used to wear. I also love this colour.
It’ll be a nice pop of colour in my otherwise neutral fall wardrobe.
These are going straight into the closet. I don’t plan to wear them for a few months yet.
Long live summer!
