Happy New Year!

I know, I’m a week late with this sentiment but I started 2012 with the most dreadful sinus infection. It just sucked the life out of me last week. I’m on the mend and I’m now ready to face the new year.

Looking back on what I wrote this time last year, I realized how much 2011 kicked 2010’s ass. There were no major water related incidents with the house and our basement is almost put back together. There were no funerals to attend either. Plus, we had a record year for travel, with trips to Jamaica, Palm Springs, San Francisco, New Hampshire, and New York City. Best of all, I got out of my work rut by getting a new job.

I didn’t bother making any resolutions for 2012. I’m still working on the ones I made last year. We actually took some Spanish lessons (resolution #1) last winter, but we just got too busy to put in the focus and effort it required. Maybe this year I’ll get back to it. Maybe not. We’ll see what the year brings.

We rung in the new year at a small gathering at our friend’s cottage on Lake Huron. It was a quiet night with lots of delicious food, Prosecco and board games. We also got to walk along the beach earlier that day. A walk by the lake is usually unheard of in December, so it was a real treat. Thanks, global warming!

Then we came home and it was sniffles and Advil for the rest of the week. I’m better now though, and I can’t wait to see what 2012 has to offer.

Happy New Year to YOU! Sorry about your sinus infection. 2012 started rough for a lot of people I know. 🙁
That lake house is incredible! Hasn’t this weather been ridiculous?
From what I gather from my bf (who can’t keep a secret to save his life) he wants to propose in the snow at our favorite park… and of course it’s been 60 degrees all winter. Driving me insane!

The lake house really is incredible. We’re so lucky to have access to it.

I’m loving the mild weather but I really hope Virginia gets a blast of cold soon. That sounds so romantic and exciting. I hope it snows for you soon!
