Would You Like To Hear Aboot My Canadian Accent?

So, there’s this video meme about accents going around, and I thought I’d add my two cents.

Here are the directions, if you’d like to play along:

Say the following words:
Aunt, route, wash, oil, theatre, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught

And answer the following questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that curls into a ball when you touch it?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?

Also, if anyone can tell me if there’s actually a name for simultaneous sun and rain, please share. Inquiring minds want to know.

  1. This is so cute! You really don’t have an accent to me. I’m sure when you get excited it comes out more. I’m in “the South” of the US and say everything the same except for “data” (day-tuh) and soda instead of pop! My mom’s dad was Northern and my dad is Serbian so, I think I got balanced out and sound pretty neutral like you.

Love hearing people’s voices! Really need to do one of these!

  2. Danielle, this is so funny! I remember that whole discussion from so long ago. Yes, you still have the funny accent ^_^

I hope you don’t mind me commenting on your weblog — it’s adorable. It’s good to see that you’re doing well. Take care!
