After the Austin Powers sequels and the insufferable Love Guru, I sometimes forget how incredibly funny Mike Myers was back in the day. I was recently reminded when he and Dana Carvey revived Wayne’s World on last weekend’s Saturday Night Live. I loved Wayne’s World but I think his best movie was So I Married an Axe Murderer.
This is adorable:
Not only is Mike Myers hilarious, but there are a few cameos by some other very funny people.
I love this scene:
The story was set in San Francisco and they used a lot of the city’s landmarks and vistas as backdrops. It’s one of my favorite vacation destinations and this movie makes me long to visit.
Finally, to top it all off, it has an awesome early 1990s soundtrack. Hey, what ever happened to Toad the Wet Sprocket or Ned’s Atomic Dustbin?
I love this movie. It’s hard to believe it’s nearly 20 years old. It really holds up.
