This week I’ve started planning our winter vacation and realized I never got around to posting the pictures from our summer trip.
Back in August we took a mini-break and flew to Chicago for a few days. It was a fantastic weekend. The weather was perfect and the trip was smooth sailing from start to finish. We stayed in an adorable hotel on Michigan Avenue that overlooked Grant Park and Lake Michigan.
I was a little disappointed with my photos from this trip. Chicago is such a beautiful and interesting city and I just didn’t feel like I was able to do it justice with my camera. If you haven’t been there, you really should see it for yourself. In the meantime, here are my pictures.
I have fond memories of this fountain. On a previous trip, I stood right under this stream. Chicago had been in the midst of a heat wave and it was such a relief from the almost record breaking temperature that day.
Chicago is a deco lovers dream.
There was a lot going on in the park that weekend.
Look how creepy and bendy this guy is.
One morning we went to Oak Park to have breakfast with a friend who lives in the area. Afterward we strolled her neighbourhood, eventually ending up at the Frank Lloyd Wright house and studio, where we took a tour.
We were told that an architecture boat tour was a must in Chicago. It did not disappoint.
Our last stop was the Willis Tower. Forget the Burj Khalifa, this is plenty tall for me.
Point Pelee – almost home.
Now we’re looking forward to our next adventure, although it won’t be for a while yet. Still, the planning and anticipation is all part of the fun.
