After a 15 year break from skating, my friend Christine laced up her skates again and joined a local synchronized skating team. We’ve known each other since we were very young and this has been her passion for as far back as I can remember. Over the years she’s tried to get back into it but with a family and full time job, she couldn’t make it work. This year she finally did it, so her friends and family came out yesterday to watch her team showcase their program in front of an audience as they prepare for upcoming competitions.
Watching her on the ice was inspiring and I was reminded of the importance of taking time to do things that make you happy. Seeing her smiling from ear to ear and exuding confidence as they performed was living proof of this. Also, one of her teammates is nearly 60 years old. It just goes to show, you’re never too old to do what you love.
